Karyn is the Past President of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild. Late to drawing and painting, Karyn took her first drawing class August 2013 and was immediately vaulted into an amazing new world of values, color temperature and composition. Classes in watercolor and pastel followed intensive drawing classes that resulted in paintings that have sold in local galleries, solo and group shows.
A former trial lawyer for the State of Arizona, retirement brought the gift of creativity in these new forms. She loves to paint landscapes, animals and people and is fascinated by the process that invests a two dimensional piece of paper with three dimensional movement.
Karyn also loves to design and create clay mosaics with brilliant glazes, as well as mosaic shrines that use found objects, Italian marble, semiprecious stones, broken china and a variety of tiles and other materials to combine intounique artwork.
Karyn has lived in Oro Valley for over 23 years and has shown and sold her artwork at many venues around town. Her “Barrel Racer” pastel won Second Prize in a show at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. She is a Signature Member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild and a long time member of the Tucson Pastel Society. You can contact Karyn at robespierre@comcast.net to discuss her artwork and/or to be included in announcement for future shows.
