Everyone is welcome: member or non-member, beginner artist or accomplished artist. This is a time to sit, paint, visit and learn from one another. Informal - just friends meeting to enjoy painting and each other.
Donation is $5.00 which goes to SAWG. See you then!
The Who & Why: Open to all members who want to stay in contact with other Sawg members through the summer, and who want to build connections and community through the exchange of small works of art.
The What: You create one postcard a week and send it to another member who is participating. (You send to a specified person each week). And in turn you receive one postcard from a member each week. You receive full instructions on the process prior to the start of the exchange. It is easy to follow and do. The cards can be created in any media, or even mixed-media. At the end of the Exchange you will have a delightful collection of artworks to cherish.
The Where: Postcards are small so they can be created wherever you are. All you need is postcards or paper that is 4” x 6” in size and your media. Many people do travel during the summer. You can take it with you, or plan ahead for the time you are gone. You will be given the summer’s prompt list at the beginning of the exchange that allows for this.
The When: The exchange was conceived to keep members involved and in touch during the summer when there are no general meetings. The exchange runs from the first Saturday in June to the last Saturday in August. About 14 weeks.
Many member artists of SAWG teach water-based painting in a variety of forms, either at the SAWG Gallery or another location. If you wish to continue taking classes, please review our "SAWG Teaching Artists Listing" to see what is available for you.
