Framed - This painting emerged through several incarnations. It was always meant to be a landscape with subtle color and a lot of texture...maybe cliffs and bluffs, etc. In an effort to vary the value, I just found myself painting in some trees. This is not a usual image for me and I think the forest here is merely a suggestion. The true experiment for me was painting on Yupo paper with watercolor and applying a cold wax varnish. And add to that my determination to add more of a contrast in value and then to paint trees without really painting trees.
