Watercolor Artist

I was always drawing and doodling as a youngster, and took Saturday morning classes at the Philadelphia Art Museum in drawing, clay, oils and acrylics. I discovered watercolors in the early ‘70s, and developed a love and respect for the medium that makes it my first choice of artistic expression.

After a 30-year hiatus (making a living in technology), I came to Tucson in 2006 to seriously try this art thing!  I have studied with local watercolor artists whose work I admire, and took 7 years to complete the Nature Illustration program at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute, earning my certificate in March of 2013.  Lizards and cacti and birds, oh my!

One of my artistic goals since moving to Tucson was to become a Signature member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild.  I am pleased and honored to have surpassed that goal, and am now a Saguaro Fellow of the guild.

My real love is plein air painting, taking in the scents and sounds of the desert and translating them onto paper.  What an amazing place to live while pursuing that goal!
